Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in the State of Florida?
If your loved one or a relative was the victim of negligent actions resulting in wrongful death, you might have a valid claim. If you are a direct family member of the departed, such as a spouse, children or parents, you can file a claim. Any life, domestic or punitive partner, blood relative, or adoptive sibling is eligible to file a claim if you were partly or wholly dependent on the decedent for support or services. If you are a distant family member, you may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim, but you must have some close connection that links you to the deceased such as a grandparent who raised their grandchild.
